Commendations and Complaints: Your Voice Matters

At the Rivertown Police Department, we value your feedback and recognize that your experiences shape our commitment to excellence. Commendations serve as a powerful form of recognition for our dedicated officers and employees. Your words of appreciation are not just a few lines; they are a testament to the outstanding service provided by our team. When a letter of appreciation is received from a citizen, we ensure that the employee and their chain of command are aware of their exceptional performance.

On the other hand, we take complaints seriously. Your concerns matter, and we are committed to addressing them promptly and thoroughly. Our goal is to maintain transparency and accountability in all our actions. When a complaint is submitted, it undergoes a comprehensive investigation, often completed within 30 days. Depending on the nature of the complaint, it may be handled by our Internal Affairs Unit or forwarded to the appropriate District/Division for investigation. During the investigation, the involved parties and witnesses are interviewed, and their statements are recorded. We gather all relevant information and evidence to ensure a fair and impartial review. If a complaint is substantiated, we take appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions to uphold our commitment to serving and protecting our community. Your trust and feedback are integral to our continuous improvement and unwavering dedication to your safety.
